Welcome to Papi's Tacos - Greenville, a delightful gem nestled at 300 River St #123, in the heart of Greenville, SC. With its roots in the food truck scene, Papi’s has transitioned into a laid-back, cozy eatery that has quickly become a local favorite for those craving authentic Mexican flavors. The inviting atmosphere is perfect for everyone, including our four-legged friends, offering a welcoming spot for a hearty meal after a stroll by the beautiful Reedy River.
One of the standout features of Papi's Tacos is their all-day menu that boasts a variety of tantalizing options. The tortas are particularly noteworthy, each served on a traditional Mexican bolillo roll. The Carnitas Torta is a perfect blend of tender pulled pork, creamy refried beans, fresh veggies, and toppings like queso fresco and jalapeños, all for just $13.99. For those seeking a twist, the Steak Milanesa Torta elevates this traditional sandwich with its fantastic flavors for $15.99.
The taco bowls are equally impressive, highlighted by generous portions of fluffy Mexican rice and well-cooked black beans. Jonathan Bacon raved about the Al Pastor, noting its well-seasoned profile topped with fresh pico de gallo and sour cream, creating a remarkably balanced dish. And for anyone looking for a lighter approach, the Veggie Bowl offers the same hearty experience without sacrificing flavor.
Papi's also showcases delightful starters like Choriqueso, a mouth-watering cheese dip for just $8.99, and a fun twist on street food with the Travelin’ Taco, served in a bag of Fritos. This innovative take offers a no-fuss dining experience that is both playful and satisfying.
The reviews resonate a common theme—the freshness and quality of the meals. Customers appreciate the generous portions and the attentiveness of the friendly staff. Matt highlighted the deliciousness of the tacos, while Kriti Mittal praised the *birria tacos*, claiming they are the best she's encountered anywhere. Similarly, Alexa Martinez was thrilled with her torta, ranking it among her top three in Greenville.
Papi's Tacos - Greenville is not just about great food; it's a place where culinary passion and community spirit converge. They may have higher price points, but guests like Shannon Bogart affirm that the quality of ingredients and generous servings justify the expense. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Papi's offers an inviting environment and a menu brimming with flavor. This local haunt is definitely worth a visit for anyone in search of authentic and satisfying Mexican cuisine.
“ Nice little Restaurant. The staff was very friendly. The tacos were delicious. ”
“ Papi’s Tacos is a great spot for solid Mexican food in Greenville SC. Originally a food truck, they’ve put down roots, and it works. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, the kind of place where you can show up straight from a walk by the Reedy River and feel right at home. They’re also dog-friendly, which is a nice touch. The food delivers on flavor and freshness. The taco bowls stand out: fluffy Mexican rice, well-cooked black beans, and your choice of protein. The Al Pastor was a great pick, full of flavor and well-seasoned. Everything is topped with fresh pico de gallo, sour cream, and cheese, making it a solid, well-balanced dish. The tortas are another highlight. Served on a bolillo roll, they’re packed with refried beans, your choice of meat (the Mexican Pulled Chicken was excellent), and fresh veggies for a good mix of textures. If you’ve never had a torta, think of it as a Mexican-style sandwich but much better than the usual options. One unique menu item is the “Travelin’ Taco, essentially a walking taco served in a bag of Fritos. It’s a fun, no-fuss take on street food that works well. Overall, the food is fresh, portions are generous, and the quality is there. I did hear someone mention they thought it was a bit bland, but that comes down to personal preference. Prices are on the higher side, but given the fresh ingredients and portion sizes, it feels fair. If you’re looking for a casual, welcoming spot for good Mexican food, Papi’s is worth checking out. ”
“ Food is a 10/10. I ordered a torta which im always on the hunt to find the best ones and I will say it’s on my top 3 best tortas in gvl!!! The view is beautiful and very calm but energetic atmosphere! Definitely recommend for you to visit and check it out!! ”
“ Great food!! Best birria tacos I have ever had anywhere. We got birria and fish tacos and a chicken barbacoa bowl. The food was fresh and tasted amazing. The owners are nice and the place feels welcoming. Highly recommend!! ”
“ From my 8-year-old son: “It was the fastest food order ever and the food was the best ever!” We were looking for something good and quick. This place surprised us! Excellent service and the food was all gluten-free except for the fried foods. Quesadilla, tacos, and chips were delicious. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for something surprisingly satisfying and fast. ”
“ Tacos were delicious! The service was fantastic! We caught Taco Tuesday 3 for 12 and they were all fantastic. The shrimp taco, birria, and steak are were our favorites! The chorizo queso was creamy with a hint of spice. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. The hot sauce on the taco has a great spice level. Would 100% recommend it in the Falls Park area! Just a short walk from the Courtyard Marriott! ”
“ Visited the food truck at the Greenville Farmers Market. I had the veggie taco and the staff accommodated my no dairy option. Looking forward to visiting the restaurant ”
“ Nuri was the best! She topped my drink as she met my group outside and then made sure we all had a good experience. She fixed my friend’s and my meal when we weren’t satisfied and made sure we got our moneys worth. Also her margarita was amazing! ”
